SC Communities

SC09 welcomes a broad spectrum of attendees from all professions related to HPC, including corporate, research, and educational institutions.  Four special programs have been developed to improve the SC conference experience and broaden its impact throughout the year.

SC Ambassadors – new this year – is designed to help our growing community from outside the USA.  Before the conference, it will provide web-based assistance on how to obtain visas, making housing arrangements, and planning activities in and around Portland.  At the conference, an International Resources booth will offer assistance specifically for international attendees.  I

The SC Broader Engagement Program is committed to broadening the participation and engagement of individuals who have been traditionally underrepresented in the field of HPC. It will provide grants to participate at SC09 as well as workshops, panels, and presentations to stimulate interest within the SC conference series and its community.

The SC Education Program is a year-round program that works with undergraduate faculty, administrators, college students, and collaborating high school teachers to integrate computational science and high-performance technologies in preparing future scientists, technologists, engineers, mathematicians, and teachers.  It includes an intensive program at the SC conference, a series of summer workshops, and educational materials year-round to help faculty integrating HPC and computational methods into their curriculum.

The SC Student Volunteer Program supports undergraduate and graduate students who work as volunteers at the conference.  Student volunteers have the opportunity to learn about and discuss the latest technologies and meet leading researchers from around the world while contributing to the success of SC08.
